Welcome to strategic consulting, the Working Lunch way. In a series of workshops, we’ll walk you through our collaborative process for creating the building blocks of your brand. The way we see it, a well-designed blueprint is essential for guiding every expression of your brand, from visuals to copy to customer interactions. With this foundation in place, you’ll be better able to communicate what you do, who you serve and why it matters, with clarity, consistency, and confidence.

 how it works

1. Learn

kick-off workshop

It all starts with a deep dive into your business. This is basically a big download, from your brains into ours, to understand as much as possible about your business past, present, and goals for the future. We also collect and review any of your existing research and metrics on customers, performance, and competitors.

2. build

three workshops

This is where the fun begins. We’ll lead you through three workshops focused on the core building blocks of your brand: your brand purpose, core values, and personality. If that sounds intimidating, don’t worry. We have a series of activities honed over the years to get the ideas flowing. Then, we capture these big ideas in clear, powerful language you can rally your team around. (You may even want to put your new mission statement on the wall!) 

3. empathize

target customer research

The next step is all about empathy. We take what we’ve learned so far and conduct qualitative research into your target customers to learn about their needs and behaviors. You’ll have the option to upgrade our standard research process to a series of focus groups if you’re into that sort of thing. Based on this research, we then develop a psychographic profile of your target customer to guide your marketing strategies. 

4. synthesize

two workshops

We come back together with you for two final workshops to share what we’ve learned about your target customer and clarify how your business solves their unique pain points. We’ll lead you through a collaborative writing exercise to develop a succinct value proposition and a messaging framework to connect with your customers at an emotional level. 

Finally, we package up all of the deliverables into a beautiful, strategic blueprint on which to build out your brand.

Time commitment

Typically, the Signature Brand Strategy engagement lasts about 9 weeks. We like to space out the workshops to give our ideas time to percolate. Plus, the pace can slow down to accommodate any scheduling conflicts or busy weeks for your biz.

Who it’s for

Funded startups who have been more focused on building a product than a brand. Small to medium size businesses who are growing or diversifying. No copywriting or design experience required. All you need is your brain and your team, we do the hard stuff.
